Texas Flooring Project: Texas Christian University (TCU)
Located in Fort Worth, Texas, you’ll find Texas Christian University (TCU) — a private Christian university known to the collegiate world as the “Horned Frogs.” Established nearly 150 years ago and still going strong today, TCU now caters to over 72,000 alumni and enrolls more than 10,000 students each and every year. To accommodate this kind of traffic, the campus decided it was finally time to expand and renovate the Dee J. Kelly Alumni & Visitors Center — a central gathering place that holds over 1,000 TCU and alumni annual events. The facility includes a banquet hall, several meeting rooms, and a terrace overlooking Amon G. Carter Stadium.
As part of the updating and renovating process, Spectra Contract Flooring was brought on board in the Fall of 2017 to provide all facility flooring — over 30,000 square feet in total. Products consisted of broadloom custom carpet, carpet tile, LVT, ceramic tile, quarry tile, sand and finish on-site wood, Absolute Flamed Granite, and large format (1m x 3m) book-match tile for desks and walls.
The Demands of the Project
Phased project work with new construction and remodel was probably the biggest challenge presented in this particular job. Other demands included long lead times on products, as well as working and installing around expensive finishes that were already set in place.
