Arizona Flooring Project: Casino Del Sol

Nestled in the secluded mesquites of the high Sonoran Desert, you’ll find The Sol of Tucson—Casino Del Sol — Arizona’s only multiple Forbes four-star casino resort winner. Getting its start in 1982, the facility entertained residents of Tucson as a bingo club. Each year since, the casino has continued to grow in both size and popularity. Today, the facility offers more than 500 slot machines, a 4,200 seat amphitheater, and more than 9,000 square feet of expansion space and multiple-themed dining venues.

As one of Casino Del Sol’s latest developmental projects, the facility recently relocated its Paradiso Lounge to a bigger and better space located within the casino. The all-new space, previously used for storage and kept in reserve for expansion, comes complete with a full bar, lounge tables and couches, a stage, and a full-size video wall.

Matching Design With Performance

As the primary flooring provider of the project, our team was brought on board in August of 2017 to provide all flooring and wall finishes for the Casino Del Sol MPR Room and Paradiso bar — nearly 3,800 square feet of flooring material and over 900 square feet of wall tile and stone. Products consisted of Vogue bay – 3D – 12 x 36 porcelain tile, Az Tile quarry tile, Az Tile 3D Stone, Karndean K Trade vinyl plank and tile, Mannington Urban Grid carpet tile, and Johnsonite Millwork base.

When it comes to The Casino Del Sol MPR room and Paradiso bar, our team was presented with the unique challenge of meeting the facility’s detailed budget while having no architect or designer involved in the design process.

To compensate for this, a general contractor was only used for structural drawings, and our very own, Jim Gregory – Project Manager for the Southern Arizona Division, acted as the designer and worked closely with the director of facilities to specify all materials used — thus keeping the project on track and at reduced costs.

The Result

Casino Del Sol yearned for a space to showcase fabulous live entertainment while also being a spot for guests to simply kick back and just enjoy the night. With Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights being filled with various live music acts and Sundays being dedicated solely to football on the live video wall, those who enter the doors of the Paradiso Bar will find an environment that is both warm and inviting — all with a design to match.
